Here are just some of the sights and places to visit in Warrandyte:
Warrandyte State Park

Warrandyte State Park is the closest State Park to Melbourne – just a 24-kilometre drive from the city. It is a haven for picnickers, bushwalkers, canoeists, birdwatchers, and those who enjoy peace and solitude.
Dominated by the Yarra River as it winds through the Warrandyte Gorge, Warrandyte State Park has an abundance of spring wildflowers and native wildlife.
The Park spans 620 hectares, and among its many treasures is the site of Victoria's first gold discovery in 1851.
The wildlife is quite diverse, despite being on the fringe of Melbourne, and includes kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, platypus, and koalas. More than 100 bird species have been recorded in the Park, as well as many reptiles, frogs, fish and insects.
Smooth-barked Manna Gums and Silver Wattles line the Yarra River, while an assortmant of Box Eucalypts and other wattles cover the hills. Much of the hilly area is characterised by open, forested country, with native grasses, creepers, orchids, and other wildflowers.
Warrandyte State Park is on Pound Bend Road in Warrandyte. It is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm. During daylight savings, the Park is open until 8 pm.
Yarra River

The Yarra River provides a unique setting for visitors and residents of Warrandyte. As well as the State Parks (see below), Warrandyte has a number of walking paths to take in the scenery alongside the river.
Longridge Park Camp

The long ridge through this park (hence its name) offers spectacular and breathtaking views of the Yarra River and surrounds.
Enjoy the open space and watch out for the other creatures sharing the campsite with you – wombats, koalas, kangaroos, possums, platypus, frogs, wedge-tailed eagles, sugar gliders, owls, and bats are all found around Longridge Camp.
With the river flats cushioned between the Yarra River and surrounding slopes, this is the perfect camping retreat.

Here, collectors interested in traditional Aboriginal culture will find classical desert art by senior masters such as Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri.
Many of these masters’ works are bought for permanent art collections.
